Altered Piano - Jewel box

I am loving digging around old op shops looking for bits and pieces to alter and when I saw this piano I was so excited. I can not play piano but it has always been a dream of mine, and I would love to own a piano, I think they are the most amazing pieces of furniture. Anyway this old brown piano had me squealing with excitement and I just couldn't wait to get it home and get  started on it.

I had to remove the workings from the center as they no longer worked, but one piece I couldn't get out so I lined that as an extra little trinket tray and then again I painted the whole piano white.

I used a file and lightly sanded the edges which allowed the original brown to show through and gave the piece a nice distressed finish.
I also painted a metal keyhole and attached it to the front just above the keys and added a small metal word plaque on the lid.
I used Dusty Attic Birds on a branch and a Dusty Attic word -Cherish as well as an assortment of flowers.

Thank you again for calling past my blog, I hope you found some inspiration.

Altered lantern

I thought I would share with you a lantern I recently altered. I brought the lantern from Red Dot it cost me $4.99 and I just knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted to alter it, and knew it had to have a shabby look.

I removed the glass panels from all 4 sides and then I painted the complete lantern white.
I wanted to make all four sides to match.

I used a lot of Dusty Attic products and also a nice mix of flowers and placed a nice lacey ribbon around the bottom of the lantern.

Thanks so much for calling past.

A little princess called Ella

I created a layout last week and could not resist using a photo of a friends Granddaughter Ella.
Ella is the first grandchild and after my friend having 5 sons a little princess package was a very special surprise indeed.

I just adore the Dusty Attic clocks, they have been a favorite of mine for years and I just never tire of using them, they look great tucked in behind a photo or popped in behind a great floral cluster.

Dusty Attic February Mood board

What a gorgeous pallet combination of colors and words that  make this months mood board challenge at   Dusty Attic
I just love the warmth that comes from this pallet.

I have been wanting to use the corrugate card so I decided to use it and paint it white, I have seen this card stock used in so many male grungy creations and wanted to use it with the added soft femine touch, I love the result.

The prize of a $100 Dusty Attic chipboard pack is an awesome prize and makes it well worth playing along. Pop over to the blog and have a go.
I have listed the products I have used below for your convenience :

Monarch Butterflies
Live Beautifully word pack
Ornate Corners #13
Mini Birdcage #2

Thanks for looking and I really hope to see you playing along with the challenges, they are so easy and very relaxed.

My Creative space makeover

My hubby has just finished giving my scrap room a make over for me, although I did help a bit he worked hard to create this space for me, all the furniture pieces where pine and we painted them

I was given this next cupboard from a gorgeous friend of mine and knew the minute I was given it what I would do with it, A coat of white paint, wallpaper the drawer fronts and then add crystal door knobs,  I was so happy with my end result.

I am loving my new space and feeling very inspired to get creative, so heres hoping to a very creative 2015 for me :) Thanks for stopping xxx

I scrapped this layout last week as I was really wanting to use this photo of my Grand Daughter Shontay, even though you cant see her face, we had a great time with the camera this particular day, she grabbed this hat of mine and was dancing around on the grass having such a magical time.  Of course I was off like a rocket to grab the camera.

I love the birds on the wire Chipboard and just felt it would suit the look and feel of this layout added with some other whimsical pieces and a title it came together really well.

I painted all my chipboard pieces white, lightly sanded them to give them the shabby look and painted the birds using liquid pearls, they are light but added just a bit of color.

Dusty Attic pieces used are :

Birds on a wire : DA0708
Precious :  DA0035
